Abstract
A total of 30 male albino rats with 150^(gm) weight were used. They were divided into 50% alcohol group, 50% alcohol plus 1% ginseng extract group, and control group. Expsrimantal rats were given with an abdominal injection of 4^(gm) per kg body weight with 50% alcohol and an oral administration of 2^(gm) per ky bode weight with 1% ginseng extract. This experiment was studied to evaluate the effect of ginseng extract on the blood components of albino injected with alcohol.
The following results were obtained;
1. The amount of total protein of ginseng extract group showed more than alcohol group. All the amount of albumin, globulin, and A/G ratio was no significance.
The activities of SGOT and SGPT showed more than the activities of control group.
3. The amount of cholesterol of control group, alcohol group, and ginseng extract group showed normal value.
4. The activities of alkaline phosphataee and the concentration of phospholipid showed more than control group.
5. The amount of blood glucose of ginseng extract group showed less than control group and alcohol group.
6. In red blood cell count, both alcohol and ginseng group were decreased and it showed high significant differences(p< 0.01)
7. In hemoglobin content. both alcohol and ginseng group were decreased. Alcohol group showed high significant differences(p< 0. 01) and ginseng group showed significant differences(p (0. 05).
8. In hematocrit value, alcoliol group was decreased and it showed significant difference(p<0.05) but ginseng group showed no significance.
9. In leukocyte count, alcohol group was decreased and it showed high significant difference(p < 0.01) but ginseng group showed no significance.
